Out and About

VISIT HEBDEN BRIDGE and surrounding area for its fascinating history, heritage and dramatic setting in the Calder Gorge. The well wooded hillsides climb steeply to rocky outcrops and the wild moorland beyond, a haven for varied wildlife interspersed with ancient Hill Villages and the packhorse trails which link them. A paradise for walkers and riders of all kinds.

Hebden Bridge

Hebden Bridge, a small former textile town, has seen a great transformation in recent years by building upon its industrial heritage, dramatic scenic setting and the creative activities of its inhabitants. Why not explore it's fascinating history with the aid of the Town Trail or one of the Pennine Heritage e-trails, each having a specific App proving background information and illustrations to add to the enjoyment of the walk.

The steep well wooded hillsides with broad open moorland above create a dramatic backcloth to dozens of wonderful walks from simple strolls to testing treks, the National Trust Hardcastle Crags probably being the best known.

Local life, too, has an intriguing pattern with the annual ambitious Hebden Bridge Arts Festival bringing international performers to the town in late spring/early summer plus regular music events at the famous 'Trades Club' and elsewhere. With many galleries and antique shops, the 90 year old classic 'Picture' and long established 'Little Theatre', the town and its environs hold much to attract any audience.

Make sure to follow our web postings for forthcoming events and suggestions ---- and, of course, whenever you visit the town, make sure to visit HEBDEN BRIDGE MILL to browse, eat or drink, or simply sample our display boards and have a look around.
